Alternate versions:
- Dr. Demento normally plays the 12" single version. This is nearly identical to the album version, except there are a few seconds of extra instrumental at the end. (The only time the LP was used as the source in syndication was on 82-23 & 82-24; 82-22 was from an advance tape.) The single version is the same except faded about a minute early, before the orthodontist part.

- Most sources show the credit as simply Frank Zappa, although his daughter is prominently featured on the recording. Only the 12" single credits it to Frank & Moon Zappa, and even then only on the front cover (not on the label).
- "Valley Girl" refers to the slang used by teenage girls in the San Fernando Valley in southern California in the early 1980s. Its popularity helped put the slang into the national consciousness.
- Moon was 14 when she did "Valley Girl".
