- Although Andy claims to have written this bit in the car on the way to the show where he first performed it, it was actually an old routine from vaudeville. He may have heard the routine much earlier and subconsciously drawn inspiration from it when creating his version.
- The original 45s were credited to Deacon Andy Griffith, but later compilations have the credit as simply Andy Griffith.
