This interview took place in Minneapolis, MN around January of 1970. The exact date is not known. It is believed to have been on KUOM, the University Of Minnesota radio station. It's not known if it was broadcast live or pre-recorded.
The history he was writing for Rolling Stone did not end up getting published issue by issue as originally planned. Some of it appeared later in the book The Rolling Stone Illustrated History Of Rock & Roll, but most of it remains unpublished.
